Jerrod Johnson passed for 349 yards and four touchdowns and Christine Michael added 108 yards on the ground as Texas A&M pounded Louisiana Tech, 48-16, on Saturday.
Dustin Harris returned a punt 54 yards for a touchdown and Cyrus Gray added a 3-yard rushing score for the Aggies, who improved to 10-0 all time against the Bulldogs.
Louisiana Tech actually held the lead for a little over two minutes after striking first with a field goal, but Texas A&M found the end zone on its next two possessions to take control. Holding a 14-10 lead just before the half, Johnson hit Uzoma Nwachukwu with a 44-yard strike as time expired in the half to send the Aggies into the locker room with a 21-10 edge. That drive lasted just two plays as Texas A&M managed 76 yards in 18 seconds.
Johnson went at the school history books on the first drive of the third quarter, connecting with junior Jeff Fuller for a 3-yard score. That was the 19th receiving touchdown of Fuller’s career, tying Bob Long’s 42-year-old school record.
A field goal and Harris’ punt return made it 38-16 after three quarters and the Aggies kept up the pressure in the fourth with Johnson finding Nwachukwu for another score and Randy Bullock adding a 22-yard field goal to push it to 48-16.
One of the worst defensive teams in the country last season, Texas A&M held the Bulldogs to 269 total yards - just 61 on the ground.
