BOXSCORE | RECAP
Nebraska 49, Western Kentucky 10
When: 7:00 PM ET, Saturday, September 4, 2010
Where: Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, Nebraska
Temperature: 78°
Head Official: Cooper Castleberry
Attendance: 85555
The Nebraska Cornhuskers found a quarterback, and ran their way to another opening day victory in a 49-10 pummeling of the Western Kentucky
Hilltoppers.

The Huskers headed into the game without naming a starter at quarterback before Taylor Martinez took the field for their opening series. Martinez promptly romped for a 46-yard touchdown run three plays later.

Nebraska rolled up 287 of their 534 yards on the ground in a dominating rushing performance. Martinez accounted for 127 rushing yards, 136 through the air, and three touchdowns.

The Husker defense was stellar as well, shutting out Western Kentucky in the first half, and holding the Hilltoppers to 299 yards.

The win extended Nebraska’s opening day winning streak to 26 games - currently the longest in college football. But more importantly, the Huskers decisively solved their quarterback controversy. Nebraska now turns their attention to Idaho, in a tune-up for their first test of the season at Washington on September 18th.
