Pierre Brooks II and Landon Moore each scored 14 points to lead visiting Butler to a 69-62 upset of No. 11 Marquette on Wednesday night in Milwaukee.

Posh Alexander added 10 points and seven assists for Butler (11-5, 2-3 Big East) while Jalen Thomas led the way down low with a 10-point, 14-rebound double-double.

Marquette (11-5, 2-3) was led by Kam Jones with 20 points. Oso Ighodaro added 12 with nine rebounds while Tyler Kolek -- the Golden Eagles' leading scorer (14.6 ppg) -- struggled once again, shooting just 1 of 13 from the floor and finishing with two points.

The first half was controlled by Marquette despite poor shooting from beyond the arc.

The Golden Eagles started the game 0 of 9 from deep, with David Joplin finally knocking one down with just over four minutes to go in the half.

That didn't stop Marquette from leading the entire half, as it went to the half up 35-28 thanks in large part to 17 from Jones on 8-of-12 shooting.

Jones, with 11 points in the first seven minutes, also achieved a milestone by reaching 1,000 career points.

The beginning of the second half is where things went downhill fast for Marquette. Butler began the half on a 19-5 run, including an 11-0 stretch to give the visitors a 47-40 lead.

From there, the Golden Eagles could never regain control. The Bulldogs compiled a 20-4 second-half run, putting them up by double-digits at the under-8 timeout. They eventually grew a lead as high as 13.

Marquette shot just 27.5 percent in the second half, missing its first eight shots and mustering a total of 27 points, with 13 of those coming in the final three minutes. In total, Marquette went 5 of 31 from 3-point range.

Butler prevented a new record being set as Marquette was one win away from setting the all-time Big East record for consecutive home wins in the conference, but the streak was snapped at 20.

Marquette fell for the second straight game and had its three-game winning streak against Butler snapped.
