Northwestern outscored Arizona 16-3 over the last 10 minutes of the first half to take a 36-13 halftime lead.

The Wildcats made as many 3-pointers, five, as Arizona State made shots from the field before the break.

Northwestern sank 15 of 28 shots (53.6 percent) from the floor, 5 of 12 from beyond the arc, in the first half. The Sun Devils were 5 of 26 (19.2 percent) overall and 2 of 13 from 3-point range.

Barnhizer matched Arizona State's scoring total with 13 points in the half. He was 6 of 7 from the field with six rebounds.

Miller finished with six points while making one of 10 shots from the floor.

Arizona State cut the deficit to 44-28 with 12:13 remaining after going on a 10-3 run.
