Kihei Clark scored all 14 of his points in the second half and No. 9 Virginia used a late 12-1 run to defeat Georgia Tech for the eighth consecutive time, 57-49 on Wednesday night in Atlanta.

The first-place Cavaliers (14-3, 10-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) overcame a sluggish, sloppy first half and snapped a school-record 11-game ACC home winning streak by the Yellow Jackets (9-7, 5-5).

Trey Murphy III scored a team-high 18 points for Virginia, which has won three straight games and 10 of its past 11. Clark made four 3-pointers in the second half. Sam Hauser contributed eight points, 10 rebounds and five assists while Jay Huff added nine rebounds, six points and four blocks.

Jose Alvarado paced Georgia Tech with 18 points and Jordan Usher added 12. The Yellow Jackets shot just 36 percent (18 of 50) from the field, including 19 percent (4 of 21) from behind the arc.

The Cavaliers shot 64 percent (16 of 25) in the second half. They started off the period with a 9-0 run, grabbing a 29-26 lead on Reece Beekman's layup with 17:15 remaining.

Georgia Tech retook the lead at 30-29 with 16:30 left and managed to hold off the Cavaliers for the next 11-plus minutes before Clark's jumper put Virginia ahead 45-44 with 5:26 to play.

Clark's bucket was part of the 12-1 run that extended Virginia's advantage to 53-45 with 3:15 left, and Georgia Tech never threatened again.

The Cavaliers entered the game ranked No. 1 in the country with an average of 9.0 turnovers per game, but they committed 10 in the first half and trailed 26-20 at the break. Virginia finished with a season-high 17 giveaways.

Murphy scored 13 first-half points for Virginia, including the team's first seven.

The Cavaliers endured a seven-minute scoring drought and Georgia Tech pulled ahead 15-9 with an 8-0 run. The Yellow Jackets held the lead the rest of the half despite shooting 32.1 percent (9 of 28) from the field.

This was the first of four games in seven days for Georgia Tech, which plays at Clemson on Friday night. Virginia returns home to oppose North Carolina on Saturday.
