BOXSCORE | RECAP
Mississippi 72, Georgia 71
When: 3:30 PM ET, Saturday, February 23, 2019
Where: The Pavilion at Ole Miss, Oxford, Mississippi
Officials: # Chuck Jones, # Josue Nieves, # R.B. Clyburn

Ole Miss guard Breein Tyree scored 14 of his 17 points in the second half as the Rebels held on for a 72-71 win over Georgia -- surviving a last-second 3-point attempt by the Bulldogs' Tyree Crump -- in an SEC game Saturday afternoon at Oxford, Miss.

Several team members of Ole Miss (19-8, 9-5 SEC) knelt during the national anthem before the game. According to media reports, the team's decision to take a knee occurred because of a pro-Confederate rally at Oxford Square, one mile from The Pavilion at Ole Miss.

Rayshaun Hammonds scored 16 points for Georgia (10-17, 1-13), which has lost eight straight and 12 of its past 13 games.

A 9-0 run, highlighted by seven points from Tyree, pushed the Rebels' lead to 64-56 with 5:38 remaining. Tyree answered with his third 3-pointer of the game after Georgia cut the lead to four, giving Ole Miss a 67-60 margin with 4:04 left.

Jordan Harris scored seven straight points for Georgia to tie the game at 69 with 1:36 remaining.

After a 3-pointer by Devontae Shuler of Ole Miss, Georgia's Nicolas Claxton made a jumper in the paint with 1:02 left to cut the Rebels' lead to 72-71.

Each team had a failed possession before Tyree was fouled with 11 seconds left. He missed the front end of the one-and-one situation and Georgia called timeout after Hammonds grabbed the rebound.

Crump's 3-point attempt at the buzzer, while triple-teamed, was off the mark.

Shuler finished with 16 points and Terence Davis had 15 for Ole Miss. Georgia's Harris had 15 points, making all five of his field-goal attempts and all five of his free-throw tries. Claxton had 13.

After Georgia took an 18-15 lead with 11:46 left in the first half, Ole Miss went on a pivotal 16-2 run to take a 31-20 lead with 7:31 remaining in the half. Four 3-pointers by Shuler, Bruce Stevens, Davis and Blake Hinson fueled the rally. The Bulldogs went 1 of 4 with three turnovers in that stretch.

After trailing 39-29 at halftime, Georgia immediately rallied at the start of the second half, scoring eight unanswered points. Claxton, who made two shots in the run, cut the lead to 39-37 with 17:32 left on a layup.

The Bulldogs retook the lead at 43-41 on a layup by Harris with 15:53 remaining. They built a lead of 54-49 with 10:57 left but in less than two minutes, Ole Miss rallied for six consecutive points to take a 55-54 lead.
