Junior forward David Collette scored 22 points and helped Utah hold off Washington State in a 74-70 win Thursday at Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Senior guard Lorenzo Bonam added 13 points, and junior forward Kyle Kuzma finished with 10 points and eight rebounds for the Utes (16-8, 7-5 Pa-12), who swept the regular-season series with the Cougars and snapped a two-game losing streak.

Washington State jumped out to an early lead and was up 23-18 after a layup by Conor Clifford at the 7:19 mark of the first half. But the Cougars would go nearly six minutes without a point, and Utah took advantage.

Tyler Rawson's dunk capped a 16-0 Utes' run, and Utah went into halftime leading 35-29. Collette, who missed the first game against Washington State, had 13 points to lead all scorers in the first half.

Without Collette, Utah hammered the Cougars 88-47 on Jan. 19. Thursday's rematch was much closer.

Washington State erased a double-digit lead in the second half, and senior forward Josh Hawkinson's layup cut the Utah lead to 56-55 with 6:43 to play. Malachi Flynn followed with a 3-pointer that gave Washington State its first lead since midway through the first half.

Hawkinson finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds, tying the Washington State school record with the 53rd double-double of his career.

Senior guard Ike Iroegbu led the Cougars (11-13, 4-8 Pac-12) with 17 points, including a late jumper that cut the Utah lead to one at 71-70 with 23 seconds to play.

Bonaam and Parker Van Dyke each made a pair of free throws in the final second to seal the win for the Utes.
