No. 14 Oklahoma 64, Oklahoma State 49: Buddy Hield scored 22 points as the third-seeded Sooners knocked off the sixth-seeded Cowboys to advance to the Big 12 tournament semifinals in Kansas City.

TaShawn Thomas added 17 points and 10 rebounds for Oklahoma (22-9), which will face Iowa State on Friday for a spot in the conference title game. Ryan Spangler collected a season-high 15 rebounds while Jordan Woodard added 11 points and Isaiah Cousins tallied 10.

Le’Bryan Nash scored a season-best 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Oklahoma State (18-13), which has lost six of their last seven games. Jeff Newberry scored 10 points while sharpshooter Phil Forte III had just three points on 1-of-10 shooting.

A basket by Nash tied the score at 41 midway through the second half before Oklahoma began pulling away. Nash’s jumper pulled the Cowboys within 48-45 with 6:41 left but the Sooners went on a 13-1 surge with Hield hitting two free throws to cap the run with 2:37 left.

Oklahoma recorded its fewest points for a first half and shot just 23.3 percent as the Cowboys took a 26-21 lead into the break. Oklahoma State led by eight after Newberry’s 3-pointer with 16:17 remaining before Hield hit two 3-pointers during a 12-0 burst as the Sooners took a 39-35 lead with 13 minutes remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Sooners had lost four straight Big 12 tournament games and Thursday’s victory was coach Lon Kruger’s first postseason win of any kind at the school. … The Cowboys had nine blocked shots, led by F Michael Cobbins with three. … Spangler is averaging 12.3 rebounds over the past three games.
