No. 9 Kansas 69, Texas 64: Perry Ellis set a season high with 28 points and tied another with 13 rebounds as the host Jayhawks moved closer to clinching at least a share of their 11th straight Big 12 title.

Kelly Oubre Jr. recorded 15 points, nine rebounds and three blocks for Kansas (23-6, 12-4), which has a one-game lead over Oklahoma, its opponent in the finale of the regular season next Saturday. Frank Mason III chipped in 12 points as the Jayhawks extended their home winning streak to 23 games.

Isaiah Taylor had 17 points, eight assists and six rebounds to lead the Longhorns (17-12, 6-10), who lost their fourth straight and missed out on a big opportunity to boost their ailing NCAA Tournament resume. Demarcus Holland added 15 points off the bench and Kendal Yancy chipped in 11 points for Texas.

Ellis and Oubre keyed a 13-4 burst that put Kansas up 61-56 with four minutes to go, but Holland hit Texas' first triple of the second half to make it a one-point game with 2:18 to go and Yancy had another with just over a minute left to get the Longhorns within 66-64. After an Ellis turnover, Taylor missed the front end of a one-and-one and later missed a layup with eight ticks remaining before Oubre hit two free throws and Ellis added another.

Neither team led by more than three points in a very tight first half that featured several lead changes, the last coming on Holland's 3-pointer in the closing seconds that put Texas up 34-31. Taylor's jumper with just under 12 minutes to go gave the Longhorns their largest lead at 48-42 before the hosts began to take charge.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jayhawks F Cliff Alexander did not play due to an NCAA issue potentially involving his eligibilty, the school announced Saturday. ... Mason's 3-pointer with 6:33 left gave Kansas a 56-54 lead and stood as the Jayhawks' only triple in eight attempts. ... Ellis was 10-of-12 from the line and Kansas went 26-of-32, compared to the Longhorns' 12-of-18 effort.
