St. John's 81, Georgetown 70: Phil Greene IV hit six 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 26 points as the host Red Storm avenged an earlier loss to the Hoyas in a chippy Big East contest.

Sir'Dominic Pointer added 24 points for St. John's (20-9, 9-7 Big East), which won its third straight. Rysheed Jordan had 15 points and Jamal Branch left the game with a pulled groin in the second half after scoring 10 points and grabbing five rebounds for the Red Storm, who were in control the entire second half.

D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera led Georgetown (18-9, 10-6) with 29 points but the Hoyas had their three-game winning streak snapped. Mikael Hopkins chipped in with 10 points and 14 rebounds off the bench.

Pointer had 13 points in the first half as St. John's, which had a 16-3 run, took a 43-32 lead into the break. St. John's Chris Obekpa and Georgetown's Jabril Trawick were assessed technicals after a pushing match in the first half and assistant coaches Rico Hines of St. John's and Othella Harrington of Georgetown were hit with technicals for a near altercation as the teams headed to the locker rooms.

Greene hit four 3-pointers in the second half and St. John's built a 52-36 lead in the opening minutes of the second period. Smith-Rivera scored 10 straight Georgetown points but the Hoyas were never able to get the deficit under double digits again.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Red Storm G D'Angelo Harrison picked up two fouls in the game's first 25 seconds and went to the bench without scoring. ...Georgetown C Joshua Smith picked up his fourth foul in the first 49 seconds of the second half and picked up his fifth soon after re-entering the lineup for a blatant push of Obekpa on a dead ball rebound. ...Harrison, who leads St. John's in scoring, went 0-for-9 from the field in the team's first meeting and was 0-for-3 on Saturday.
