No. 14 Maryland 66, Michigan 56: Melo Trimble had 19 points, five assists and four rebounds as the host Terrapins won their fifth straight.

Dez Wells added 13 points and six rebounds for Maryland (24-5, 12-4 Big Ten), which hit 11-of-22 from beyond the 3-point line. Jake Layman added 10 points off the bench and Evan Smotrycz had a team-high nine rebounds.

Spike Albrecht and Zak Irvin each had 15 points to lead Michigan (14-14, 7-9). Ricky Doyle added four points and nine rebounds for the Wolverines, who have lost six of seven.

Doyle's layup gave Michigan a 21-18 lead with just under five minutes left in the first half before the Terrapins got 3-pointers from Layman, Richaud Pack and Trimble during a 12-0 run into halftime. The Wolverines cut the lead to 34-30 early in the second half on Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman's big dunk, but Jared Nickens answered with a pair of 3-pointers in a 90-second span to rebuild a 41-32 Maryland lead.

Albrecht's 3-pointer cut the Maryland lead to 43-40 with less than nine minutes left but Trimble hit a pair of 3s in the next two minutes while Layman and Wells hit 3s to push the lead to 12 with 3 1/2 minutes left. Irvin and Albrecht hit late 3-pointers, but Layman and Trimble capped the victory with baskets in the final 90 seconds.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wells and Trimble are averaging 38.4 of Maryland's 67.6 points during the five-game win streak. ... Maryland freshman F Michal Cekovsky (2.8 points, 2.6 rebounds) suffered a left knee injury during warmups and did not play. ... Michigan hit just 5-of-21 from behind the 3-point line.
