No. 12 Oklahoma State 93, Utah Valley 40: Preseason All-America Marcus Smart set a school record with nine steals and added 14 points as the host Cowboys rolled over the weary Wolverines.

Freshman point guard Stevie Clark recorded 16 points, six assists and five rebounds for Oklahoma State (2-0), which had 18 steals — one shy of the school record. Phil Forte scored 19 points, Le'Bryan Nash added 11 and Markel Brown had 10.

Keawe Enos and Hayes Garrity scored eight points apiece for Utah Valley (2-1), which defeated North Carolina A&T 78-71 at home Monday. The Wolverines shot 29.2 percent from the field and were 5-for-24 from 3-point range.

Smart had 11 points, five steals, three rebounds and three assists in the first half as Oklahoma State shot 50 percent from the floor en route to a 50-25 lead at the break. The Cowboys opened the contest with a 15-2 run covering the first 3:22 as Smart contributed a three-pointer and a dunk during the spurt.

Oklahoma State's biggest margin of the opening 20 minutes was 47-17 when Clark made a 3-pointer 2:45 prior to intermission. The lead reached 30 again on Smart's 3-pointer with 13:49 remaining and 50 on Clark's triple with 2:23 to go as the Cowboys finished with more steals than Utah Valley made field goals (14).

GAME NOTEBOOK: Oklahoma State improved to 34-3 against current members of the Western Athletic Conference and hasn't lost to a current member of the WAC since 1979. ... Forte converted his only free throw attempt and has made 34 straight from the line. ... Oklahoma State has recorded 19 steals two times, most recently against Mercer on Dec. 17, 2008.
