No. 12 Oklahoma State 117, Mississippi Valley State 62: Le'Bryan Nash recorded 21 points and 10 rebounds while Phil Forte scored 22 as the Cowboys won their 39th straight home opener.

Markel Brown and Brian Williams added 14 points apiece for Oklahoma State (1-0), a co-preseason pick with Kansas to win the Big 12 Conference. Marcus Smart, the only unanimous selection on the Associated Press preseason All-American Team, had 11 points.

DeAngelo Priar scored 19 points while Anthony McDonald recorded 13 of his 16 points in the first half for the Delta Devils (0-1), who finished ninth in the 10-team Southwestern Athletic Conference last season and were picked to finish there again in the preseason poll. Mississippi Valley State was 4-for-19 from 3-point range.

A pair of McDonald free throws brought the Delta Devils to within 32-21 with 8:53 remaining in the first half. The Cowboys uncorked a 10-0 run with Nash, Smart and Forte all providing baskets and took a 50-24 lead on Brown's 3-pointer with 4:24 left until intermission.

The lead ballooned to 63-29 at halftime as Oklahoma State, which was in the bonus 6:33 into the game, scored its final eight points from the free-throw line. The Cowboys enjoyed their biggest lead at 117-60 with 35 seconds left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Oklahoma State is 21-0 against SWAC teams. ... The Cowboys are 73-3 in home openers since the opening of Gallagher-Iba Arena in 1938. ... Oklahoma State finished 29-of-41 from the free-throw line.
