No. 11 Florida 80, Louisiana State 58:
Erik Murphy scored a career-high 27 points on 11-of-15 shooting and added a career-high 12 rebounds as the top-seeded Gators crushed the Tigers in the quarterfinals of the SEC tournament as Nashville, Tenn.

Murphy went 5-of-7 from 3-point range and Scottie Wilbekin hit 4-of-5 from beyond the arc en route to 16 points for Florida (25-6), which will take on Alabama in Saturday's semifinals. The Gators are trying to capture their first SEC tournament title since 2007.

Charles Carmouche was the only player to reach double figures with 14 points as No. 9 seed LSU (19-12) missed out on adding a signature win to its NCAA Tournament resume and likely fell off the bubble.

Florida set the tone early, knocking down six 3-pointers in the first half and playing its typical tight defense to take a 43-28 lead into the break. Michael Frazier buried the final 3-pointer of the period out of a timeout at the buzzer to cap an 8-2 run ending the half.

The Gators pulled away early in the second, using a 10-1 run to stretch it to 60-34 with 13:27 left. Florida held the Tigers without a field goal over a span of nearly eight minutes while pushing the lead to as much as 73-38.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Gators beat the Crimson Tide at home 64-52 on March 2. … Florida controlled the glass 47-27, led by Murphy, Patric Young (six rebounds) and Frazier (five). … The Tigers shot 25.9 percent from the field in the second half.
