Fuquan Edwin hit a 3-pointer with 8.9 seconds left and the host Pirates scored seven points in the final minute to end their nine-game losing streak.

Seton Hall trailed 65-63 with 16 seconds left before Tom Maayan forced a Villanova turnover and passed to Edwin, who made the Pirates’ 13th 3-pointer and snapped their 10-game losing streak to the Wildcats.

Ryan Arcidiacono scored 16 points and JayVaughn Pinkston had 15 for Villanova (18-11, 9-7 Big East), which was coming off an impressive win Saturday against Marquette. Mouphtaou Yarou had 14 points and 15 rebounds, and his basket with 27 seconds remaining gave the Wildcats a 65-61 lead.

Aaron Cosby scored 17 of his 21 points in the second half and Edwin had 18 points to lead Seton Hall (14-15, 3-13), which shot 61.9 percent from 3-point range. The Pirates were 13-for-18 from the foul line compared to 25-for-27 for Villanova.

Kyle Smyth scored all 12 of his points on four 3-pointers in the first half for the Pirates, who made eight of their nine first-half field goals from beyond the arc. Brian Oliver added 11 points, including three 3-pointers.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Wildcats are 8-of-31 from 3-point range in their last two games after making four of their 19 attempts against Seton Hall. … The teams combined to commit 36 turnovers. … Seton Hall won for the first time since a 55-47 victory over South Florida on Jan. 23.
