Georgetown raced to a 27-point lead over the game's first 13 minutes and cruised to an 83-57 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Saturday at Capitol One Arena in Washington.

The Hawks were more competitive in the second half, but got no closer than 13.

The Hoyas led 71-44 with 3:59 left after a 12-2 run.

After Maryland-Eastern Shore cut the deficit to 42-29 early in the second half, Georgetown went on a 10-0 run to blow it open again.

The Hawks outscored Georgetown 21-7 over a 10-minute stretch that spanned halftime.

Kaleb Johnson scored a game-high 24 points, and Jessie Govan had 23 points and 14 rebounds for the Hoyas.

Georgetown (3-0) made 51.7 percent of its field goals and won the rebound battle 48-26.

Miryne Thomas led the Hawks (1-2) with 16 points and Ahmad Frost added 14.

Maryland-Eastern Shore trailed 35-8 before showing any signs of life.

Cameron Bacote hit three free throws to start a 7-0 Hawks run.

Johnson scored 19 first-half points, and Govan had 10 rebounds as Georgetown led 40-19 at the break.

The Hoyas outrebounded Maryland-Eastern Shore 26-13 in the first half.

Georgetown scored the game's first 10 points and made six of its first 10 shots, jumping out to a 15-2 lead.

After a layup by the Thomas, the Hoyas rattled off another nine straight points and led 24-4 with 13:39 to go in the first half.

Maryland-Eastern Shore was 0-for-9 from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes.

The Hoyas have a week off before hosting Richmond.

Maryland-Eastern Shore will be at St. Bonaventure on Monday.
