Kelan Martin's running layup with 2.6 seconds left in double overtime gave Butler a 91-89 victory over Georgetown on Wednesday night at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

It was the third straight time Butler and Georgetown went into overtime when playing at Capital One Arena.

And for the third straight time, the Bulldogs came away with a win, only this time it took two overtimes.

Kamar Baldwin led the Bulldogs with 31 points and Martin added 27 points as the Bulldogs rallied from an 18-point halftime deficit to win the Big East opener for both teams.

Marcus Derrickson scored 23 points for the Hoyas. Jessie Govan recorded his ninth double-double of the season as he scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Jahvon Blair added 17 points for the Hoyas, who committed 21 turnovers, which Butler turned into 22 points.

Butler's Sean McDermott's last-second tip-in sent the game into the first overtime tied at 75.

In the first extra period, the Hoyas used their length and size advantage to open up a four-point lead. Govan had a chance to make the score 82-77, but he missed the and-one free throw with 1:43 left.

A jumper by Baldwin tied it at 81 and after Govan made two free throws, McDermott stepped up again to rescue the Bulldogs by making his two free throws to send the game into the second overtime.

Butler (11-3, 1-0 Big East) was picked to finish eighth and Georgetown (10-2, 0-1) was picked to finish ninth in the Big East preseason coaches' poll.

Baldwin scored 17 second-half points to ignite Butler's offense. While Baldwin was practically unstoppable in the second half, it was Martin who scored four straight points to give Butler its first lead at 71-70 with 1:31 remaining.
