Kamari Murphy recorded his sixth double-double of the season, scoring 16 points with 10 rebounds to lead Miami past Syracuse 62-57 in the second round of the ACC Tournament on Wednesday at the Barclays Center in New York.

Ninth-seeded Miami (21-10) plays top-seeded North Carolina in the quarterfinals on Thursday. The Hurricanes are 3-8 in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Andrew White III led Syracuse (18-14) with 22 points and Ty Battle added 14.

Davon Reed chipped in with 14 points and DJ Vasiljevic added 13 off the bench for Miami.

A layup from Ja'Quan Newton as Miami worked the clock down provided the Hurricanes with a 59-55 lead with 16 seconds to play. The Hurricanes made three of four free throws after that in the last seven seconds to snap a two-game losing streak.

White deposited six straight points, four on free throws and a jumper, to pull Syracuse to within 53-52 with 4:06 to play, but Murphy delivered two dunks to extend the Miami lead to 57-52 with 2:33 left.

Battle's 3-pointer from the baseline in front of the Syracuse bench gave the Orange their first lead, 41-40, of the second half at the 12:13 mark before the Hurricanes countered with a 7-1 burst to move ahead 48-42 with 7:36 to play.

Syracuse went 2:40 at the end of the half without scoring, trailing 36-28. Miami was effective shooting over Syracuse's famed 2-3 zone in the first half, connecting on 6 of 11 of its 3-pointers.

The Hurricanes featured a 10-2 run, turning a 19-19 deadlock into a 29-21 lead with 5:11 left in the half.
