Senior forward Anthony Livingston scored a career-high 28 points, including five 3-pointers, and Texas Tech knocked off Utah State 75-51 on Wednesday in the Cancun Challenge third-place game at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Cancun, Mexico.

Junior forward Zach Smith added a season-high 21 points, including multiple highlight-reel dunks, and the Red Raiders bounced back from a two-point loss to Auburn on Tuesday to improve to 4-1 this season.

After trailing for the majority of the first half, at times by double digits, Texas Tech outscored Utah State 45-19 in the second half to pull away.

Jalen Moore scored 21 points to lead the Aggies (3-2), who were coming off an 85-64 loss to Purdue. No other Utah State player scored in double figures.

A Moore layup put the Aggies up 24-12 lead midway through the first half. The lead was back to 12 after Sam Merrill's 3-pointer with 4:18 left in the half.

But Texas Tech closed the first half with a 13-3 run, capped by a Livingston 3-pointer from the top of the key to send the Red Raiders into halftime down only 32-30.

Moore had 15 points in the first half for Utah State, which shot 54.5 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes.

Smith opened the second with an alley-oop dunk and Giovanni McLean hit a 3-pointer to give the Red Raiders a 44-42 lead with 12:36 to play.

Texas Tech's lead grew to eight on a Justin Gray steal and dunk with eight minutes left. The Red Raiders pulled away in the last five minutes with Livingston hitting three clinching 3-pointers down the stretch.
