Ivan Rabb posted his sixth double-double of the season, leading Cal to an 81-65 victory over Arizona State on Sunday night at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley, Calif.

Rabb had 20 points, 15 rebounds and five assists for Cal (10-4, 1-1 Pac-12), which bounced back after losing its conference opener to Arizona on Friday.

Grant Mullins had 20 points, four rebounds and four assists for the Bears. Jabari Bird scored 16 points and Sam Singer had 10.

Obinna Oleka had 18 points and six rebounds for Arizona State (8-7, 1-1), which opened conference play with a victory over Stanford. Tra Holder scored 14 points and Torian Graham came off the bench to add 13.

The teams exchanged leads a number of times in a closely contested first half.

Arizona State took an 11-7 lead on a dunk by Graham. Cal went up 18-17 on a dunk by Rabb. Holder made a 3-pointer to give the Sun Devils a 23-18 advantage midway through the first half, the largest lead either team had in the first 20 minutes.

Cal led 38-27 at the break.

Arizona State took a 46-45 lead on a 3-pointer by Oleka early in the second half, but Cal quickly reclaimed the lead on a 3-pointer by Mullins. The Bears went up 56-62 on a basket by Rabb.

The Sun Devils battled back to take a 61-60 lead on two free throws by Shannon Evans II, but the Bears responded with a 15-2 run to take a commanding 75-63 lead with less than two minutes remaining.

Cal shot 52.6 percent from the field, made 11 of 25 3-pointers and amassed a 39-25 rebounding advantage. Arizona State shot 40 percent from the field and made just 7 of 24 from 3-point range.
