DeAndre Harris came off the bench to score 28 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Nicholls State opened the game on a 12-0 run and never trailed in upsetting Boston College 79-73.

New Nicholls State coach Richie Riley scored a victory in his head coaching debut in Boston Friday night and Harris, a guard, did a little bit of everything to make sure the Colonels didn't let the Eagles back in the game.

Harris added four assists and four steals as the Colonels of the Southland Conference led by 18 in the first half, blew the lead, but took over down the stretch to score the upset over an ACC team.

Harris scored four points in a 6-0 run that re-established control of a game that was tied at 69 with 2:15 remaining.

Ja'Dante Harris added 11 points and eight rebounds and Liam Thomas scored 14 points for Nicholls, which was picked to finish last in the Southland but got off to a flying start for Riley. The coach was an assistant at Clemson and was familiar with BC.

The Colonels won despite going 14-for-25 from the foul line. But they took care of the ball, turning it over just 10 times.

Freshman guard Ty Graves came off the bench to lead BC, a program that went 0-18 in the ACC last season, with 18 points, going 4-for-7 from 3-point range.

Jerome Robinson had 14 points (just 4 for 12 from the floor), six rebounds and four assists and A.J. Turner 12 points and five boards for the Eagles.

BC went 9-for-18 from 3-point range but missed 11 of their 23 free throws and also turned the ball over 16 times in the loss.
