ATLANTA -- Tadric Jackson scored eight of his 12 points in the final five minutes to help Georgia Tech turn away upset-minded North Carolina A&T 59-52 on Wednesday at McCamish Pavilion.

Jackson tied the game at 45-45 with a 3-point basket and gave the Yellow Jackets a five-point lead with a three-point play. His jump shot with 57 seconds left was part of a 14-4 run that helped secure the win.

Georgia Tech (8-4) also got a season-high 12 points from graduate senior Kellen McCormick and 12 points and six rebounds from center Ben Lammers.

North Carolina A&T (1-12) was led by Sam Hunt with 20 points, who was 8 of 8 from the foul line. Davaris McGowens added 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets got off to a shaky start, and their execution was so poor that coach Josh Pastner removed all five starters after three ineffective minutes. Georgia Tech didn't score its first points until the 14:23 mark on Justin Moore's layup.

After trailing by as many as seven points, Georgia Tech managed to tie the score 14-14 on a pair of Quinton Stephens free throws and took its first lead at 20-19 on a Lammers layup. Georgia Tech led 26-23 at halftime.

The Aggies lost their 12th consecutive game since winning their season opener against Greensboro College.

Georgia Tech improved to 8-0 against North Carolina A&T and is now 30-0 all-time against members of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

Georgia Tech will open the Atlantic Coast Conference schedule on Saturday at home against No. 9 North Carolina. The Yellow Jackets follow that with games at No. 5 Duke and at home against No. 6 Louisville.

The Aggies start MEAC play Jan. 4 at Hampton.
