WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- No. 15 Purdue made 11 3-pointers during the first 20 minutes, including four each from guards Dakota Mathias and Carsen Edwards, and the Boilermakers cruised to a 90-56 victory over Morehead State on Saturday.

Purdue (6-2) came into this game leading the Big Ten in 3-point field goal shooting percentage at 41.8 and sank 11 of 20 in the first half against the Eagles' zone defense.

Edwards finished with 16 points, Mathias added 14 and Caleb Swanigan and P.J. Thompson each scored 13 for the Boilermakers. Miguel Dicent had 11 to lead Morehead State.

The Boilermakers led 10-9 with 15:44 remaining in the opening half when they began a 15-0 run that included 3-pointers from Mathias, Edwards and fellow guard Ryan Cline.

At that point, Purdue led 25-9 and finished the half with a 47-25 advantage, shooting 51.6 percent (16 of 31) and out rebounding Morehead State (2-5) by a 21-16 count.

The Eagles were without head coach Sean Woods, who was suspended without pay on Nov. 22 after reports surfaced from players claiming they were being mistreated.

The university is involved in a formal investigation.

NOTES: Purdue is a member of The Associated Press Top 25 poll for a 23rd consecutive week, currently the eighth-longest of any team ... The Boilermakers' two losses have been administered by 2016 NCAA champion Villanova and by 2013 NCAA champ Louisville ... Entering the Morehead State game, Purdue was shooting 41.8 percent from 3-point range, 12th nationally and No. 1 in the Big Ten Conference ... Murray State starting F DeJuan Marrero (9.8 points and 7.8 rebounds) is a native of Gary, Ind., approximately 100 miles from the Purdue campus ... The Eagles entered averaging 9.3 steals a game, 21st best among Division I teams.
