Jahmel Taylor scored 21 points and Paul Watson added 13 as Fresno State held off a late Oregon State comeback to secure a 63-58 nonconference victory on Friday night at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Ore.

The host Beavers (2-4) dropped their fourth straight despite a game-high 31 points and 10 rebounds from Tres Tinkle, who helped lead a late rally from a 15-point deficit.

Jaquori McLaughlin added 12 points for Oregon State. Fresno State improved to 3-2 as Jaron Hopkins also collected 10 points.

Taylor was 5 of 8 on 3-point tries in the first half, including a buzzer-beating shot from beyond the arc as the Bulldogs rallied from a 21-10 deficit to claim a 27-26 halftime lead.

Taylor hit his sixth -- and last -- 3 pointer with 15:40 left in the second half for a 36-32 lead as Fresno State kept Oregon State at bay. The Bulldogs went on an 11-0 run for a 49-34 lead with 10:30 left as Watson made back-to-back 3-pointers.

Fresno State led by 15 points with 7:33 to play before Oregon State launched a run that cut the deficit to single digits after a Tinkle 3-pointer made it 58-51 with 2:51 showing.

Tinkle then hit two free throws and Kendal Manuel added a jumper to make it 59-55 with less than two minutes to play. But Beaver forward Cullen Russo put the game out of reach with two free throws to make it 61-55 with 33 seconds left.

Fresno State made 20 of 52 shots fromt he field (40.4 percent), including 9 of 20 from 3-point range. Oregon State was 18 of 44 (40.9 percent), including five 3-pointers.
