Mississippi State raced to a 19-point halftime lead and coasted to a 95-78 SEC victory against LSU on Saturday afternoon at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, La.

The Bulldogs (10-4, 2-0 SEC) ended a four-game losing streak against the Tigers in Baton Rouge. Aric Holman led Mississippi State with 17 points, Lamar Peters scored 15, Quinndary Weatherspoon had 14, I.J. Ready 13 and Mario Kegler 11.

Duop Reath led the Tigers (9-5, 1-2) with 19 points and had a game-high 13 rebounds, Antonio Blakeney scored 17 and Skylar Mays had 10.

The Bulldogs made 20 of 34 field goals on their way to a 52-33 halftime lead.

The Tigers scored the first two points of the second half before Ready and Kegler each made a 3-pointer as Mississippi State grabbed a 25-point lead less than three minutes into the half. The lead grew to as many as 26 points.

LSU started chipping away at the deficit late, getting within 17 points with 5 1/2 minutes remaining before Kieran Hayward's 3-pointer got it within 14 with four minutes remaining.

A Peters free throw and a Ready layup put the Bulldogs back in control with less than three minutes remaining.

Mississippi State's Aric Holman broke a 12-12 tie by making two free throws and moments later he made two more to start an 11-0 run by the Bulldogs that yielded a 30-20 lead.

Brandon Sampson's basket ended the run, but Holman and Peters both made a 3-pointer as Mississippi State pushed the lead to 46-27.

Jalyn Patterson made a 3-pointer for LSU, but Holman and Ready each made a 3-pointer as the Bulldogs increased the lead to 52-33 at halftime.

Mississippi State State is at Arkansas on Tuesday while LSU visits Texas A&M on Wednesday.
