AUSTIN, Texas -- Guard Jaylin Walker scored 24 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the floor to lead Kent State to a rousing 63-58 victory over Texas on Tuesday night at the Frank Erwin Center.

Kent State led just 57-56 with 1:19 to play before forward Jimmy Hall got loose in the lane for a layup and Walker flew in for a dunk that stunned the Longhorns and pushed the Golden Flashes' lead to 61-56.

Texas' Jarrett Allen hit an inside bucket to get to within 61-58, and the Longhorns were forced to foul to extend the end game. Kent State missed two front ends of one-and-ones but grabbed an offensive rebound (its 22rd of the game) after the first miss and Hall swatted away a Texas shot attempt after the other, creating a run-out dunk for Walker to end the game.

The Golden Flashes (8-5) also got 15 points and 12 rebounds from guard Deon Edwin (his first career double-double) and 11 points and 11 rebounds from Hall.

Freshman forward Jarrett Allen led the Longhorns (6-6) with 17 points and 11 rebounds while Kerwin Roach Jr. added 14 points before fouling out in the waning seconds. Texas committed a season-high 18 turnovers and got just four points (on back-to-back possessions in near the two-minute mark) from leading scorer Tevin Mack.

Kent State roared to the lead midway through the second half via a 15-2 run that staked it to a 46-36 advantage. The Longhorns scored the next seven points to get back in the game at 46-43, but Edwin had a layup and a jumper to push the Golden Flashes back in front at 50-32.

Texas led 29-25 at halftime behind nine points and seven rebounds from Allen and despite zero points from Mack, who missed his first six shots. Kent State was able to stay in the game even though it shot just 26.5 percent from the floor and was 0-for-8 from 3-point range.
