Hanner Mosquera-Perea's offensive rebound and putback with three seconds to play lifted East Tennessee State past Mississippi State 67-65 on Wednesday night at Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville, Miss.

With Mississippi State trailing 65-62, freshman guard Lamar Peters hit a tying 3-pointer with 10.9 seconds to play.

East Tennessee State junior guard Desonta Bradford broke the Georgia press on the Buccaneers' ensuing possession and got a good look at a jumper but missed.

Junior forward David Burrell got the initial rebound for East Tennessee State but couldn't connect. Mosquera-Perea grabbed Burnell's miss and put in the winning bucket.

Mississippi State's I.J. Ready was off on a contested, rushed 3-pointer as time expired.

Bradford led the Buccaneers (8-2) with 15 points and senior guard T.J. Cromer added 14.

Sophomore forward Aric Holman finished with 17 points and sophomore guard Quinndary Weatherspoon added 13 points for the Bulldogs (6-3), who were rusty after 10 days off.

Freshman guard Mario Kegler finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.

The Buccaneers had 13 offensive rebounds, including four by Mosquera-Perea.

East Tennessee State grabbed the lead early in the first half and was up 28-20 after a 3-pointer from Burrell with six minutes left before intermission. Cromer had 10 points in the first half, helping the Buccaneers take a 31-26 lead into halftime.

East Tennessee State was coming off a 75-61 loss to Dayton. The Buccaneers have a game against Tennessee on Dec. 22 before opening Southern Conference play against VMI on Dec. 31.

Mississippi State has three more non-conference games to find its stride before entering SEC play. The Bulldogs open conference play at home against Alabama on Jan. 1.
