Sparked by 3-pointers from Markus Howard and Sam Hauser, Marquette used a late 11-0 run to break open a two-point game and score an 89-79 win over Georgia before a "Black Out" crowd at Stegman Coliseum.

The Golden Eagles made a season-high 14 3-pointers. Hauser had four 3-pointers and led Marquette with 19 points. Howard had three 3-pointers and scored 15.

Marquette (6-2) got 16 points and 10 rebounds from Jajuan Johnson and 12 points from reserve Katin Reinhardt, who returned after missing the last game with illness. It was Marquette's second victory this season over a team from the Southeastern Conference this season.

Georgia (5-3) was led by Yante Maten with 24 points and J.J. Frazier with 22. Maten has scored in double figures for 24 straight games.

The Golden Eagles opened the second half by outscoring Georgia 15-6 to take command of the game. The streak began with back-to-back treys from Hauser and Johnson and concluded with Luke Fischer's tip-in with 14:27 left that gave Marquette a 65-49 lead.

Georgia responded with a 21-7 run to get within 72-70 on a pair of free throws by William Jackson II with 7:06 remaining.

Marquette led 46-43 at halftime. Both teams shot the ball well -- Marquette 53 percent, Georgia 50 percent. The Golden Eagles shot 8-for-10 on 3-pointers, with Reinhardt, Hauser and Andrew Rowsey each making a pair.

Marquette led by as many as 10 points in the half, including 27-17 on a layup by Duane Wilson with 10:22 left. But the Bulldogs went on a 13-3 run, with Frazier scoring seven points, to tie the game 30-30 with 5:13 left in the half.

It was only the second meeting between the two teams. Marquette won 100-70 in the opening round of the Milwaukee Classic in 1974.
