Arkansas used a big run at the start at the second half and another at the end of it to edge Texas-Arlington in a 71-67 win at Bud Walton Arena on Friday night.

The Razorbacks (3-0) went on a 7-0 run to turn a tied game into a 66-59 advantage with two minutes left. Arkansas hit enough free throws in the final 120 seconds to get the win. The final two from the charity stripe came from junior guard Jaylen Barford, who had a game-best 17 points.

Arkansas trailed by 11 points at the half, but came out of the locker room on a 17-2 run. The Razorbacks shot 50 percent (12-for-24) from the floor in the second half after shooting at a 31 percent clip in the first half.

Barford went 6-for-12 from the field and hit four of his six free throw attempts. He was one of three Razorbacks in double figures. Junior guard Anton Beard had 12 points and senior guard Dusty Hannahs chipped in 11 points on 2-of-10 shooting.

UT-Arlington went off for 43 points in the first half and hit eight of its 15 3-pointers. But in the second half, the Mavericks (1-3) were held to 24 points, went 4-for-14 on threes and shot just 28.6 percent from the field.

Junior guard Erick Neal led UT-Arlington with 15 points to go with three rebounds and three assists. Senior guards Drew Charles and Jalen Jones scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, and both hit a trio of 3-pointers for the Mavericks, who suffered their third straight loss.

This is the second time in three seasons Arkansas has started 3-0. The Razorbacks won their first six games in the 2014-15 season and ended with 27 wins during that campaign.
