In a rematch of last year's Round of 64 NCAA Tournament game, North Carolina State broke open a close game late in overtime to earn an 83-72 victory over No. 22 LSU in the consolation game of the Fanduel Legends Classic in Brooklyn on Tuesday.

LSU freshman forward Ben Simmons didn't score from the field for the first 39:22, but his layup with 38 seconds left tied the game at 65. Wolfpack guard Caleb Martin fouled him on the attempt, but Simmons missed what would have been the go-ahead free throw. After a Wolfpack shot clock violation, Tiger guard Antonio Blakeney missed a three-pointer at the end of regulation.

North Carolina State scored the first three points in overtime, and LSU never drew even again. It got within 73-72 on a 3-pointer by guard Brandon Sampson with 1:51 to play in the extra session, but the Tigers never scored again. Guard Anthony Barber went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line in the final 30 seconds to secure the win.

Barber led the Wolfpack with 20 points. Forward Abdul-Malik Abu added 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Guard Tim Quarterman had 19 points to pace LSU. Simmons finished with 16 rebounds and 10 assists, but went 1-for-6 from the floor and 2-for-5 from the free throw line to finish with four points.

The Wolfpack beat the Tigers 66-65 last March. Both teams lost their games on Monday night. Louisiana State fell to Marquette 81-80, while N.C. State dropped a 79-76 decision to Arizona State.
