Senior guard Angel Rodriguez scored 15 points, including a free throw with 38.1 seconds remaining for a three-point lead, and No. 21 Miami outlasted Nebraska 77-72 in overtime on Tuesday night in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Miami (6-1) took the lead for good on a 3-pointer by Devon Reed, his only field goal in 10 attempts, with 2:36 remaining.

Senior forward Sheldon McClellan added 14 points, as five Hurricanes scored in double figures.

The Hurricanes overcame 28 points by Nebraska senior guard Shavon Shields, who was 11 of 25 shooting.

Shields held firm through four fouls from the 3:36 minute mark of regulation on, and through leg cramps, all while tussling one-on-one with Miami forward Kamari Murphy.

Late in second half, Murphy won three straight one-on-one battles with Shields, blocking a shot, altering another and drawing a charge, all with Miami clinging to a one-point lead.

Finally, after a timeout, Shields scored on a hook shot with 4:09 remaining for a 61-60 lead, Nebraska's first of the second half.

The lead changed five times thereafter, with Nebraska freshman guard Glynn Watson hitting a game-tying 3-pointer for a 68-68 with 18.9 seconds remaining. Miami had the last shot, but Rodriguez's guarded 3-pointer didn't drawn iron, and McClellan's put-back with 2 seconds to play was short.

Miami led 37-36 after a back-and-forth first half that featured six lead changes and four tied scores.
