Denzel Valentine approached another triple-double and five players reached double figures for No. 3 Michigan State as the Spartans cruised to an 89-65 victory over Eastern Michigan on Monday in East Lansing, Mich.

The senior point guard collected 12 points, nine rebounds and seven assists before he was removed with 5:47 remaining. Valentine had 29 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists against Kansas last week.

Freshman power forward Deyonta Davis piled up 16 points, five rebounds and five blocks for the Spartans (4-0) while sophomore power forward Javon Best supplied 13 points and six rebounds.

Junior guard Eron Harris (10 points, seven rebounds and four assists) and senior shooting guard Bryn Forbes (12 points) were the other top contributors for Michigan State.

Junior point guard Ty Toney had 18 points and junior guard Willie Mangum added 10 for the Eagles (2-2).

Valentine picked up two fouls and scored only two points in the first half, but the Spartans still opened up a 40-25 halftime lead.

Michigan State finished the half on a 20-10 in the final eight-plus minutes. Davis got it going with a putback dunk.

Davis' three-point play with 2:34 remaining in the half extended the Spartans' lead to 11. Harris made a 3-pointer during the final minute.

Valentine's 3-pointer early in the second half pushed the lead to 45-25. Sophomore small forward Marvin Clark Jr.'s layup with 8:53 to play upped the lead to 73-43.
