No. 15 Iowa State 67, No. 14 Oklahoma 65: Georges Niang had 13 points and eight rebounds as the second-seeded Cyclones reached the Big 12 championship game when Ryan Spangler of third-seeded Oklahoma missed a layup in the final seconds at Kansas City.

Jameel McKay had 12 points and nine rebounds for Iowa State (24-8), which will face top-seeded Kansas in Saturday's title game. Monte Morris added 11 points for the Cyclones, who won last season’s conference tournament championship.

Spangler received a pass from Jordan Woodard and had the ball start to slip out of his hands as he went up and missed the wide-open layup with two seconds remaining. Buddy Hield had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Sooners (22-10), Isaiah Cousins scored 14 points, TaShawn Thomas had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Woodard had 13 points and seven assists.

Morris and Naz Long drained back-to-back 3-pointers to give Iowa State a 62-58 lead with 4:34 remaining and Niang’s jumper made it a five-point margin with 1:55 left. Spangler and Thomas scored inside baskets to get the Sooners within 66-65 with 12.6 seconds to play and Niang split a pair of free throws with 9.7 seconds to go before Spangler missed the tying layup.

Cousins made three 3-pointers during an 11-0 burst that gave Oklahoma an early 17-6 lead and the Sooners led by eight after Hield’s basket with 4:09 remaining. The Cyclones scored the next 10 to take a two-point lead and the contest was tied at 29 at the break before Iowa State opened up a 42-34 advantage on Morris’ basket with 15:19 left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cousins had four 3-pointers but the Sooners were 7-of-28 from behind the arc. … Niang and teammate G Bryce Dejean-Jones each had three of Iowa State’s 12 steals. … Oklahoma collected 16 offensive rebounds while posting a 43-27 edge on the boards.
