No. 10 Kansas 62, No. 16 Baylor 52: Wayne Selden Jr. scored 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting as the top-seeded Jayhawks soared past the fourth-seeded Bears to reach the championship game of the Big 12 tournament in Kansas City.

Perry Ellis returned from a knee injury and had 11 points and six rebounds for Kansas (26-7), which meets second-seeded Iowa State in Saturday’s title game. The Jayhawks will be participating in their 11th Big 12 championship game and have won nine of the previous 10.

Kenny Chery scored 20 points for Baylor (24-9), which shot just 32.8 percent from the field. Rico Gathers contributed 11 points and 13 rebounds as the Bears scored their fewest points of the season.

The Jayhawks led by four points before breaking out with a 12-1 burst with a basket by Frank Mason III capping the run to make it 51-36 with 5:10 remaining. Chery made a jumper to bring the Bears within 11 with 3:01 left but Mason countered with a three-point play and Kansas cruised to the finish.

Baylor was 5-of-25 shooting in the first half and posted a season low for points as the Jayhawks took advantage for a 26-18 lead at the break. Kansas increased the lead to 15 points on a three-point play by Selden with 16:42 remaining before the Bears emerged with a 15-4 burst and Chery’s 3-pointer capped the run and pulled Baylor within 39-35 with 11:15 remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Gathers (384) broke the Baylor single-season record for rebounds set by Charles McKinney (375 in 1973-74). … Kansas had nine steals while forcing 17 turnovers. … Chery made all four of Baylor’s 3-pointers as the Bears went 4-of-22 from behind the arc.
