Playing against the Trojans for the second time in nine days, Hamilton scored 18 points in the opening half, nearly doubling his 10.1 average, as the Bruins surged to a 47-29 lead. Hamilton made the first basket of the game for UCLA and his 3-pointer later in the half sparked a 14-0 run that gave UCLA the lead for good at 24-13.

Later in the half he produced a 3-pointer and a three-point play on back-to-back possessions to expand the lead to 20. He hit two more 3s on consecutive trips down the floor in the opening 90 seconds of the second half to push the lead back to 20 and the advantage continued to swell.
