William & Mary 72, Northeastern 61: Quincy Ford scored a season-high 22 points to lead the Huskies to the Colonial Athletic Association tournament title in Baltimore and their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1991.

David Walker added 15 points for third-seeded Northeastern (23-11), which denied the Tribe their first trip to the NCAA Tournament after seeing its 22-point lead shrink to six with 36.5 seconds left. Senior walk-on Caleb Donnelly scored 13 points, Scott Eatherton had 12 and Zach Stahl recorded 10 rebounds, five points and five assists as the Huskies - two of the four CAA regular season co-champions along with William & Mary - shot 59.1 percent from the field.

Marcus Thornton, the CAA Player of the Year who registered a tournament-record 37 points in Sunday's 92-91 victory over Hofstra in double overtime, scored 20 in this one as the top-seeded Tribe (20-12) lost their second straight CAA final and fourth in the last eight seasons. Daniel Dixon added 15 points while Terry Tarpey contributed 10 points and seven rebounds for William & Mary, which split two games with Northeastern this season.

The Huskies scored on their first four trips down the floor en route to a 10-0 lead and after the Tribe forged ties at 18 and 20, Northeastern responded with a 9-0 run - with Ford, the tournament MVP, scoring five of his 15 first-half points during the spurt - on its way to a 36-26 lead at the break. Tarpey's steal and driving layup cut a 13-point deficit to 42-35 with 12:41 left, but the Huskies responded with an 11-1 run - capped by Stahl's three-point play with 9:07 remaining.

Northeastern continued to pour it on as Connelly's 3-pointer extended the lead to 58-40 with 8:07 left and the Huskies' advantage ballooned to 67-45 with 3:41 to play. William & Mary scored the next 16 points - eight by Thornton - before Northeastern sealed it by going 5-for-6 at the free-throw line in the final 30.1 seconds.
