USC 67, Arizona State 64: Freshman Elijah Stewart scored a season-high 27 points, including six 3-pointers, as the Trojans rallied from a 15-point second-half deficit to upset the Sun Devils in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament in Las Vegas.

Julian Jacobs had 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists for No. 12 seed USC (12-19), which closed the game on a 24-6 run and faces fourth-seeded UCLA in Thursday’s quarterfinals. The Trojans escaped with the improbable win after Nikola Jovanovic blocked Shaquielle McKissic’s shot with 3.4 seconds left and Stewart converted two foul shots to provide the final margin.

McKissic led fifth-seeded Arizona State (17-15) with 16 points, nine rebounds and five steals while Bo Barnes scored 15 points and made three 3-pointers. Savon Goodman collected 10 points and eight rebounds for the Sun Devils, who shot 35.4 percent from the field - 5-for-22 from 3-point range - and 13-of-21 from the foul line.

Arizona State used a 15-2 run midway through the first half to move ahead 25-14 and held a 38-28 advantage at the break. The Sun Devils took a commanding 58-43 lead with just under 10 minutes left before Stewart erupted for 12 straight USC points as the Trojans cut the deficit to 60-55 with 4:35 to play.

Barnes converted two foul shots to push the Sun Devils lead to seven, but USC answered with 10 straight points and moved ahead 65-62 on Jacobs’ basket with 1:17 remaining. McKissic scored quickly on the other end before Jovanovic – who had seven points and seven rebounds – blocked McKissic’s shot to secure the biggest win for USC in two seasons under coach Andy Enfield.

GAME NOTEBOOK: USC lost both meetings against UCLA this season, including 83-66 at the Galen Center on Jan. 14 and a 85-74 defeat on March 4. … The Trojans committed 17 turnovers but shot 52.2 percent from the field – including 7-of-13 from beyond the arc. … Arizona State freshman PG Tra Holder battled foul trouble and was held to six points and three assists.
