Texas A&M 59, Charleston 50: Freshman Peyton Allen scored a team-high 14 points while Jalen Jones added 12 points and 11 rebounds as the Aggies defeated the Cougars in the consolation round of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off

Jordan Green contributed 11 points, including some key baskets late as Texas A&M (2-1) moves on to face New Mexico in the fifth-place game on Sunday. Alex Caruso chipped in nine points and seven assists for the Aggies, who finished the game on a 27-13 run.

Anthony Stitt and Joe Chealey led the way with 10 points each for Charleston (1-3), which faces George Mason for seventh place on Sunday. The Cougars were without forward Adjehi Baru, who suffered a right leg injury late in the first-round loss to Connecticut after recording 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Allen drained a 3-pointer, Caruso dunked after a steal and Green made two free throws to give Texas A&M a 46-39 edge with 3:56 left. Charleston pulled within two twice, but Green responded with five straight points to push the lead to 53-46 with 1:06 remaining and the Aggies were on their way.

The Cougars led by one before scoring seven of the final nine points, including a 3-pointer by Cameron Johnson, of the opening half to build a 26-20 lead at intermission. The Aggies trailed by five before Allen nailed a jumper, Antwan Space converted a three-point play and followed that up with a dunk for a 39-37 lead with 7:20 to go.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Texas A&M G-F Danuel House received a waiver from the NCAA Friday and is cleared to play for the Aggies after transferring from Houston. The 6-7 House averaged 13.6 points and 5.3 rebounds last season with the Cougars. ... Texas A&M forced 17 turnovers and had a 36-31 edge on the boards. … The Cougars have made 31-of-78 shots from 3-point range in the first four games of the campaign.
