Gardner-Webb 72, Clemson 70: Jarvis Davis hit two free throws with 6.6 seconds left after the Tigers were issued a technical foul to lead the Runnin’ Bulldogs to a stunning upset in the first round of the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands.

After Gardner-Webb’s Tyler Strange tied the game at 70 with a fade away 3-pointer, Clemson attempted to in-bound the ball and called time, but didn’t have any remaining and were given a technical foul. Davis calmly sank the free throws to lead the Runnin’ Bulldogs to Sunday's semifinals, where they will play Seton Hall.

Gardner-Webb (2-1), which scored the last five points, was led Strange with 18 points, including 4-for-8 from 3-point range. Tyrell Nelson scored 12 points while Davis, Jerome Hill and Harold McBride each had 10.

Clemson, which led by as many as 13 points in the second half, was led by Damarcus Harrison with a game-high 19 points, including 3-of-5 from long range. Rod Hall scored 16 points and Landry Nnoko added 11 and seven rebounds for Clemson (1-2), which plays in Saturday's consolation round against Nevada.

The Tigers ended the first half strong and carried that momentum into the second with a 7-0 run and a 43-34 advantage following a jumper by Hall. The Tigers led 62-49 after a layup by Josh Smith but the Runnin’ Bulldogs began playing well in transition and started hitting 3-pointers to trim into the lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hall, who played in his 101st game for Clemson, also registered his 300th career assist. … Gardner-Webb was 11-of-31 from 3-point range. … The Runnin’ Bulldogs also outrebounded the Tigers 40-34.
