Angel Rodriguez led the way with 15 points as the Hurricanes avoided a letdown by knocking off the Dragons in the Charleston Classic.

Manu Lecomte went 3-of-5 from 3-point range en route to 15 points and Tonye Jekiri collected eight points and 13 rebounds for Miami (3-0), which takes on Akron in Friday's semifinals. Omar Sherman added a pair of 3-pointers for the Hurricanes, who knocked off No. 8 Florida on the road Monday.

Tavon Allen scored 13 points on 4-of-17 shooting for Drexel (0-3), which meets USC on Friday. Freddie Wilson scored 12 points off the bench while leading scorer Damion Lee was held to nine points for the Dragons.

Drexel held an 18-14 lead midway through the first half before going the rest of the period without a field goal as Miami surged ahead 28-20 at the break. The Dragons were 6-of-23 from the field in the half.

Rodriguez scored 10 points in less than two minutes to push the Hurricanes up 38-27 less than five minutes into the second period. Allen’s 3-pointer cut it back to single digits at 40-32 before Miami ripped off a 16-3 burst capped by 3-pointers from Lecomte and Sherman to put the game away.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Hurricanes, who went 9-of-18 from beyond the arc in upsetting Florida, followed that up by hitting 11-of-21 against Drexel. … Miami attempted only six free throws, knocking down five. … The Dragons have yet to reach 50 points in a game, scoring 48 and 49 in their first two games.
