No. 19 St. John’s 82, Tulane 57: Sir’Dominic Pointer collected career highs of 24 points and seven steals as the Red Storm easily turned away the Green Wave in Brooklyn, N.Y.

D’Angelo Harrison scored 21 points and Rysheed Jordan added 12 off the bench for St. John’s (11-1), which pushed its winning streak to seven. Chris Obekpa contributed eight rebounds and four blocks as the Red Storm held Tulane to 37.9 percent from the field.

Jonathan Stark scored 15 points and Louis Dabney had 12 for the Green Wave (9-3), who have dropped back-to-back games to ranked teams. Tulane committed 11 of their 17 turnovers in the first half while falling into a big hole.

Jordan found Pointer for a basket to make it 31-16 with 5:37 left in the first half. The Green Wave cut it back to 33-22 but Pointer scored five points in a 14-0 run closing the half that Jordan capped with an alley-opp dunk at the buzzer to send St. John’s into the break with a 25-point lead.

Jordan hit a 3-pointer to restore the 25-point advantage with 13:59 left and the Red Storm were never threatened down the stretch. Pointer’s dunk with 3:52 left made it 75-50 before the Red Storm pulled the starters.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Harrison (1,829) pushed past Zendon Hamilton (1,810) and Bob Zawoluk (1,826) into fourth place on St. John’s all-time scoring list. … The Green Wave went 6-of-25 from 3-point range as Stark struggled to 1-of-6. … Tulane had won nine straight before dropping its last two and begins American Athletic Conference play with its first two games on the road.
