LSU 81, No. 18 Arkansas 78: Keith Hornsby hit a 3-pointer from the left corner at the buzzer as the visiting Tigers upset the Razorbacks in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Playing without standout Jordan Mickey, LSU (22-9, 11-7 SEC) got 27 points from Jarell Martin and a career-high 20 points from freshman Jalyn Patterson, who hit six 3-pointers. Martin blocked Alandise Harris’ shot and LSU corralled the loose ball with 22.9 seconds left, and Hornsby nailed his shot as the buzzer sounded.

Bobby Portis scored 21 points on 10-of-17 shooting and pulled down 15 rebounds (10 offensive) for the Razorbacks (24-7, 13-5), who will be the No. 2 seed in next week’s SEC Tournament. Michael Qualls added 15 points and Anthlon Bell hit four 3-pointers en route to 12 points.

The Razorbacks trailed most of the game and were down seven with 8 ½ minutes left before rallying, taking a 71-70 lead on two Harris free throws with 3:32 remaining and going ahead by three on Qualls’ dunk on the ensuing possession. Tim Quarterman tied the score with a 3-pointer with 2:36 to go and Patterson’s sixth 3-pointer of the day evened it at 78 with 57.8 seconds left.

Qualls brought Arkansas within 58-55 on a basket midway through the second half, but Martin’s layup with 8:29 left pushed LSU’s lead to 62-55. Martin finished 11-of-18 from the field and pulled down eight rebounds for the Tigers, who shot 50 percent from the field.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Mickey, who is fifth in the SEC in scoring and second in rebounding, did not play due to a shoulder injury. … The Tigers scored 14 unanswered points midway through the first half to build a 12-point lead, but Arkansas rallied with a 14-3 spurt before LSU took a 41-35 halftime lead. … Hornsby finished with 13 points and six rebounds.
