No. 22 Georgetown 67, Creighton 40: D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera recorded a game-high 24 points as the visiting Hoyas rolled over the Bluejays for the second time this month.

Jabril Trawick contributed a season-high 15 points for Georgetown (15-6, 7-3 Big East), which held Creighton without a field goal for more than 17 minutes during one stretch. Mikael Hopkins added eight points and eight rebounds for the Hoyas, who also defeated the Bluejays 76-61 at home on Jan. 3.

Avery Dingman led the way with eight points for Creighton (10-13, 1-9), which shot 20.8 percent from the field en route to a season-low scoring output. Toby Hegner had a team-high eight rebounds for the Bluejays, who had more turnovers (12) than made field goals (11) and were 5-of-22 from 3-point range.

Georgetown jumped out to an early 12-2 lead, but Creighton answered with the next 13 points and Smith-Rivera scored seven as the Hoyas recorded 16 of the last 18 for a 28-17 edge at intermission. The Bluejays missed their last 12 shots of the opening half, going the last 10 minutes without a field goal, and finished 5-of-28.

Trawick and Smith-Rivera each hit 3-pointers to open the second half as Georgetown ran off 10 straight and 15 of the first 16 for a 43-18 lead with 13 minutes to go. Dingman drained a 3-pointer to end the drought and Rick Kreklow followed with another, but Creighton never got closer than 17 the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Trawick is 13-of-21 from the field and is averaging 14 points in three career games against the Bluejays. … The 40-point performance was an all-time low for Creighton at its home arena – CenturyLink Center. … Georgetown C Joshua Smith, the team’s second-leading scorer, had only two points and four rebounds before fouling out.
