Cincinnati 56, UCF 46: Kevin Johnson scored a game-high 13 points to lead the visiting Bearcats past the Knights in an American Athletic Conference game.

Johnson was 4-of-4 from the foul line and made three 3-pointers for Cincinnati (14-5, 5-2 AAC), which won its third consecutive game. Troy Caupain added nine points and Octavius Ellis chipped in eight points and 10 rebounds for the Bearcats, who improved to 2-3 on the road, including 1-2 in conference games.

Kasey Wilson had 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead UCF (9-10, 2-6), which suffered its third straight loss. Daiquan Walker added 11 points off the bench, including three 3-pointers, and Brandon Goodwin chipped in 10 points.

UCF jumped out to a 19-14 lead but Cincinnati countered with a 9-0 run for a 23-19 lead with 6:16 left before halftime. The Bearcats went into intermission with a 29-24 advantage, as the Knights managed only one basket over the final 9:48 before the break.

UCF twice pulled within three points in the second half on Goodwin layups, the second one cutting it to 44-41 with 7:40 to play. But Cincinnati went on a 6-0 run, highlighted by Johnson’s 3-pointer, and the Bearcats held the Knights scoreless over the final 4:38 to seal the victory.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cincinnati improved to 6-0 in the series. … UCF shot 32.7 percent from the field. … Cincinnati registered eight steals, led by Caupain’s three.
