LSU 87, Georgia 84 (2OT): Tim Quarterman scored a career-high 27 points, including six in the waning moments of the first overtime, and the host Tigers outlasted the Bulldogs in an SEC contest.

Jordan Mickey had 17 points and Josh Gray and Jalyn Patterson both scored 15 for LSU (12-3, 1-1 SEC). The Tigers led throughout regulation but needed to erase an eight-point deficit in the first overtime to pull out the victory in their second straight overtime contest.

Kenny Gaines paced Georgia (9-5, 0-2) with 19 points before fouling out and Marcus Thornton added 16 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Nemanja Djurisic added 15 points but also fouled for the Bulldogs, who had their fate ultimately sealed when Charles Mann had a potential game-tying 3-pointer blocked at the end of the second overtime.

Quarterman, who scored 11 points before the break, capped the first-half scoring with a 3-pointer to give the Tigers a 42-36 advantage. In the second half, Cameron Forte scored four points in a 6-0 Georgia run that tied the game at 54 with 11:45 to play but LSU responded with an 8-0 run - highlighted by 3-pointers from Quarterman and Patterson - to take a 62-54 lead.

Georgia clawed its way back and tied it at 67 with one second left in regulation when Thornton tipped in a missed jumper by Gaines. The Bulldogs scored the first six points of the first extra session and led by as much as eight but Quarterman, who had just buried a 3-pointer, tied the game with a three-point play with 18 seconds left and J.J. Frazier missed a potential game-winning jumper at the buzzer.

GAME NOTEBOOK: LSU made 6-of-11 3-pointers in the first half and shot 60 percent from the field before the break. ... Mickey entered the game as one of four players from power conferences to average a double-double (15.8 points, 10.8 rebounds). ...LSU's Jarell Martin (seven points, six rebounds) and Gray (six assists) both fouled out.
