Rico Gathers had 17 points and career highs of 18 rebounds and 10 offensive boards for Baylor (12-3, 1-2 Big 12), which ran through its non-conference schedule with an 11-1 record before stumbling against Oklahoma and Kansas in the first week of conference play. Prince hit a short jumper then followed that with an inside hoop for a 59-56 lead with just under three minutes left in the extra session. After consecutive turnovers by the Horned Frogs, Chery drained two from the line and the Bears closed out the victory despite shooting 29.8 percent from the field.

The teams combined to shoot 33 percent from the floor, commit 30 fouls and take 40 free throws in a 28-28 first-half tie, and neither team could gain any separation after intermission. A 3-pointer by Anderson and a fast-break hoop by Amric Fields provided TCU a five-point edge with 4:46 left, but Baylor drew even with a minute left on a short jumper by Chery, whose drive to the hoop in the waning seconds of regulation was blocked by Karviar Shepherd.
