No. 5 Louisville 58, Clemson 52: Chris Jones scored 20 of his 22 points in the second half and the host Cardinals opened the second half with a 17-0 spurt before holding on in their first ACC home game.

Terry Rozier scored 15 points and Wayne Blackshear added 11 points for Louisville (14-1, 2-0), which held the Tigers scoreless for nearly seven minutes to open the second half. Jones finished 6-of-17 from the field, 3-of-6 from 3-point range and added five steals as the Cardinals survived despite shooting 32.7 percent from the field.

Jaron Blossomgame scored 15 points with nine rebounds to lead Clemson (8-6, 0-2), which shot 30.8 percent from the field. Damarcus Harrison scored 12 points and the Tigers trimmed the deficit to two with six minutes remaining before going more than five minutes without a field goal.

The Cardinals trailed at the half 22-18 before Blackshear’s 3-pointer on the opening possession after intermission ignited the cold Louisville offense. Rozier scored six points during the run and Montrezl Harrell, who scored one point in the opening half, added five as Louisville built a 35-22 advantage.

Harrison broke the Clemson drought with a 3-pointer with just over 13 minutes remaining, and after Jones pushed the lead to 42-32 with back-to-back 3-pointers from the right wing, the Tigers scored eight unanswered points to get within 42-40. Chinanu Onuaku’s tip-in ended the run and Jones added two buckets to push the Louisville advantage to 48-41 with 3½ minutes to go.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Cardinals missed 10 of their final 11 shots from the field in the first half as the Tigers, who opened the game 3-of-11, closed the period on a 10-4 run. … Harrell, sixth in the ACC in scoring at 16.7 points coming in, finished with a season-low six points. … Clemson outrebounded the Cardinals 40-37 but fell to 0-4 all-time against Louisville.
