No. 23 Northern Iowa 67, Loyola Chicago 58: Jeremy Morgan scored a career-high 18 points as the host Panthers held off the Ramblers to win their 10th straight home game.

Deon Mitchell added 13 points for Northern Iowa (12-2, 1-1 Missouri Valley), which survived missing seven free throws in the final three minutes. Seth Tuttle collected nine points, four assists and four steals while Marvin Singleton chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds for the Panthers.

Milton Doyle led the way with 13 points for Loyola Chicago (11-3, 1-1), which saw its seven-game winning streak end. Jay Knuth came off the bench to score 12 points and Devon Turk tallied 11 for the Ramblers.

Tuttle converted a three-point play to put Northern Iowa in front 50-38 and the Panthers used a 9-0 burst to build a 59-41 lead. Knuth nailed two 3-pointers as part of an 11-0 run to pull Loyola within seven before Morgan made six clutch free throws down the stretch to preserve the victory.

Morgan scored seven consecutive points to put Northern Iowa on top 22-14 and it forced 12 turnovers in the first half to settle for a 32-28 edge at intermission. Mitchell scored at the rim on two straight possessions and drilled a 3-pointer to stretch the lead to 11 before Loyola cut the deficit to 39-33.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Northern Iowa has won all five meetings with Loyola Chicago at the McLeod Center. … Mitchell scored nine straight points for the Panthers to open up the second half. … The Ramblers finished with more turnovers (19) than assists (11).
