Texas A&M 58, Hartford 49: Jalen Jones led the way with 12 points as the Aggies closed out non-conference play by holding off the visiting Hawks.

Kourtney Robertson added 10 points as Texas A&M (9-3) survived an 0-of-13 effort from 3-point range. Alex Caruso was held to two points but handed out 10 assists, grabbed eight rebounds and tallied five steals for the Aggies.

Mark Nwakamma scored 13 points and Corban Wroe added 10 for Hartford (7-7). Taylor Dyson recorded nine points and seven rebounds for the Hawks, who fell for the sixth time in the last eight games.

Texas A&M held a 40-28 lead just before the midway point of the second half and was still in front 47-36 after Jones’ layup with over six minutes to play. Yolonzo Moore II buried a 3-pointer and Dyson hit another as Hartford cut it to 47-44 with three minutes left, but Caruso scored his first points from the line and the Aggies locked down on the defensive end to put it away.

Texas A&M jumped out to a 12-2 lead in the first six minutes before Hartford came back and chopped the deficit to one point. The Hawks failed to record a field goal over the final five-plus minutes of the first half as the Aggies spread it back out to 23-17 at the break.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Moore finished with nine points to pull within 22 of 1,000 for his career. … Hartford shot 28.1 percent from the field, including 8-of-32 from 3-point range. … Texas A&M improved to 7-0 at home and begins SEC play at Alabama on Tuesday.
