No. 10 Texas 70, Texas Tech 61: Javan Felix scored 15 points, and Jonathan Holmes added 14 as the Longhorns opened Big 12 play with a road victory over the Red Raiders.

Cameron Ridley chipped in 13 points off the bench for Texas (12-2, 1-0), which has won 12 of its last 13 meetings with Texas Tech. Making his return after a six-week absence, Longhorns leading scorer Isaiah Taylor shot 2-of-10 en route to eight points and also had six of his team's 17 turnovers.

Freshman center Myles Turner made his second career start for Texas and recorded eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Isaiah Manderson had a team-high 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting for Texas Tech (10-4, 0-1), which has lost three of its last four games.

Felix made three 3-pointers in the first half as Texas overcame 10 turnovers - in part by forcing 12 miscues - to take a 31-22 lead into the break. Felix made a 3 as part of a 7-2 spurt to end the half, and Holmes opened the second half with a layup and a 3-pointer to make it 36-22.

An 8-2 push by Texas Tech got the hosts within 41-35 before Texas scored the next 12 points to resume control. Robert Turner's 3-pointer - his team's first bucket in nearly six minutes - ended the surge, and the Red Raiders got within 66-59 with about 90 seconds remaining before the Longhorns closed it out at the foul line.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Taylor had been out since Nov. 20, when he broke his wrist in the Longhorns' third game of the season. ... Robert Turner and Keenan Evans each scored nine points for Texas Tech, which had been 10-0 at home. ... Felix has scored in double figures in four straight games after reaching 10 points just three times in his first nine outings.
